Foreclosure Scam Warning Signs

Beware of anyone who:

  1. Demands upfront fees
  2. Guarantees to stop your foreclosure
  3. Asks for payment by wire or cashier's check
  4. Tells you not to contact a lawyer or your lender
  5. Asks you to send mortgage payments directly to them
  6. Proposes you sign over or "share" your property deed or title
  7. Suggests a lease-and-buyback arrangement
  8. Proposes that he or she fill out paperwork for you
  9. Pressures you to sign documents without reading or that you do not understand
  10. Requests Power of Attorney
